Honoring our mothers on Mother's Day { Austin Portrait Photographer}

Mother's Day - a day to honor our mother's.  So, it's only appropriate that today, I honor our own mothers.  Here is one of my mom's recent portraits I created.

My mother is a  woman of strength, courage & determination.  Her virtue of patience & understanding is greater in her than anyone I have ever known.  She's gentle and kind and is full of unconditional love.  Her beauty not only shines on the outside, but is even brighter on the inside.

For all of the happy memories you have created, for all you do and mostly who you are, today I honor my mother!  Happy Mother's Day Mom!

Honoring Aaron's Mom - the day I got married (and even before) Aaron's mother became another mom and friend to me.  Here's a beautiful portrait I took of her a few years ago.  Her sense of style & elegance was my inspiration for this portrait.

Mom has a fabulous sense of humor & is one of the most thoughtful people I know. I love laughing with her.  She raised a wonderful gentleman, that I love laughing with just as much! She is known to be a strong willed & very determined woman. Mom, we are so proud of your achievements lately!  Congratulations on your medal!  Happy Mother's Day Mom!

{Austin Children & Family Photographer} Practice makes perfect! I'll be looking for MODELS soon!

Spring Time is here and for me that means Texas School of Professional Photography!  This year I will be spending a week with an amazing photographer - Greg Daniels.

Texas School of Professional Photography is a week long school for Professionals to challenge their skills, check out what's new and what's hot, while receiving intense instruction from some of the best photography minds in the business. www.tppa.org

As intense & fast past as the school is, it's always best when I come home to practice what I have learned.  This year, I'd love to call on some of my VIP clients to come back in for some modeling.  Of course, you'll receive a complimentary session & a $100 studio credit to use as you please.  If I don't call on you this time, don't worry, there is always another time.

It's also print competition season and as I prepare, there will be other opportunities for modeling as well.

If you might be interested in participating, please feel free to send me an email and let me know you'd like to be a model! maggie@photographybymaggie.com

A SMILE ON MY FACE & IN MY HEART

A family laughing together, the giggle and snicker of a child, the first grins of a tiny baby....

I have to smile thinking how blessed I am.  I have the privilege of creating heirloom portraits for my families.  How amazing is that!

What I love about my career is all the wonderful people I meet, build a relationship with and get the opportunity to learn their inner beauty.  I have so much fun getting to know everyone and then creating special portraits for them.  I hope all my clients have a fun & fabulous experience with me.

My wish for you all is love and happiness!  Thank you to each and everyone for entrusting me to create your portraits!

Warm regards,
Maggie

Local Photographer’s Work Goes to International Exhibition

Two Prints created by Maggie Messer of Maggie Messer Photography in Leander, Texas has recently been accepted into the GENERAL Collection and LOAN Collection of the 2009 International Print Competition. Messer's work will be on display at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center, January 10-12, 2009, in Nashville, Tenn. This exhibition is held in conjunction with Imaging USA, an annual convention of professional photographers and several photographic associations.

A panel of over 40 eminent jurors from across the United States selected the top images from more than 4,300 total submitted entries at Gwinnett Technical College in Georgia. Judged against a standard of excellence, almost 1,700 images were selected for the General Collection and just over 500 (12 percent) were selected for the esteemed Loan Collection—the best of the best. The Loan Collection images will be published in the much-anticipated “Loan Collection” book, and nearly 200 selected General Collection images will be published in the “Showcase” book by Marathon Press.

Titled " A Hidden Moment"(General Collection) and “The Bout”(Loan Collection) Messer's entries will be in Nashville alongside other photographic works from not only PPA’s print competition, but also traveling and special invitational displays. These images constitute the world’s largest annual exhibit of professional photography gathered simultaneously under one roof.

Professional Photographers of America (PPA), an international non-profit association, exists to assist its 22,000 members in achieving their professional, artistic and fraternal goals; to promote public awareness of the profession; and to advance the making of images in all of its disciplines as an art, a science and a visual recorder of history.
